28 October 2011 - The Mediation Institute of Guyana (MIG) hosted its first ever Mediation Forum under the Theme – Embracing the Potential of Mediation. The first session was held at the Oceanview Hotel, Guyana. There were presentations by Mr. Carl A. Singh, Chancellor of the Judiciary of Guyana, Mr. Justice Vasheist Kokoram, Chairman of the Mediation Board of Trinidad & Tobago and Ms. Jamela A. Ali, President, MIG.

Board of Directors - Mediation Institute of Guyana
Ms. Jamela A. Ali was elected as President of the Mediation Institute of Guyana Inc. at its second Annual General Meeting held on the 8 June 2011.
Other Directors are Pamela Nauth 1st Vice President, Ilona Perreira-Roach 2nd Vice President, Sadie Amin as Secretary, Mohamed Khan as Treasurer, Zairol Neisha and Hazel Hally-Burnett as Directors.
Mediation in Guyana
Mr. Justice Carl A. Singh, C.C.H. Honourable Chancellor of the Judiciary of Guyana (ag) was the Chairperson of the ADR Committee and the principal person responsible for the introduction of Mediation in Guyana in 2003.
Mediation Centre
In 2003, a Mediation Centre was established within the compound of the High Court of the Supreme Court of Judicature at Georgetown, Guyana.

Mediation Institute of Guyana
On the 24 June 2008, the Mediation Institute of Guyana Inc. was incorporated under the Companies Act 1991 of Guyana.
Board of Directors - Institute
Jamela A. Ali was elected as President of the Mediation Institute of Guyana Inc. at the second Annual General Meeting held on the 8 June 2011.
On the 24 May 2010, the first Annual General Meeting of the Institute was held and the following persons were elected to the National Board of Directors:

5. Lionel Britton
6. Zairol Neisha

From among the Directors, Mohamed Khan was selected as President, Pamela Nauth as 1st Vice President, Lionel Britton as 2nd Vice President, Sadie Amin as Secretary and Zairol Neisha Treasurer.
